The Overlook Theatre Reviews: Homicycle

of 5 viewers "Liked" "Homicycle" (Canada, 2014)
Here's what the creatures had to say:

Lord Battle - "Homicycle felt like a personal attack on everything I love, from the awful "metal" band to the weak-ass slasher, to ignoring the whole langue of cinema. Homicycle is one of those films that's so bad it's not funny, it's just aggravating and boring. I know the cover-art is awesome, but avoid this film at all costs!" - 1 Star

Math Mage - "I didn't think you could mess up a cheese/campy revenge film. These people found a way. Some random dude comes back as a ghost after Bea Arthur (A local crime lord who is so well connected, he can kill a cop in his own home in front of another cop and then get acquitted) kills him for no adequately explained reason, some people die lame CG deaths but the deaths are satisfying, the dialog is so horrible I was glad when they shut up! Homicycle never actually rides a motorcycle, I could continue but I don't want to waste any more mental energy on this!" - 1 Star

The Berkeley Blazer - Fell Asleep - Default 2 Stars

Huntress - Fell Asleep - Default 2 Stars

Dabbles - Fell Asleep - Default 2 Stars

The Overlook Theatre Final Rating*
(Below is for after you've seen the film)

The idea of making a faux trailer isn't just awesome it's practical. The craziest concepts can come to life in a trailer, even if they could never work as a feature. Now this isn't always true, as Jason Eisner the Canadian king of the modern grind house cinema has proven. Hobo With A Shotgun was a faux trailer submitted to a contest to help promote the film Grindhouse. Eisner of course won and had so much success with his awesome concept that he was able to make it a feature. Now despite many similarities, Homicycle is far from its fellow countrymen (Hobo, WolfCop, Turbo Kid) as Homicycle isn't a serious shot at an outrageous concept. Homicycle actually plays more like a Comedy/Horror, where the comedy is poorly written and amateurishly executed. This isn't to say that we didn't have some fun watching the film, I'm just saying it stops being even remotely humorous about 20 minutes in. Normally I forbid people from injecting opinion into the "Wrap-up" section of our review but when a film called Homicycle stars a slasher who never actually rides his bike, what do you expect me to do?

This is why the Math Mage called the villain Bea Arthur
